Campaign of the Month: June 2011
From Beyond the Shattered Gateway (On Hiatus)
Character Creation and Starting Packages
All characters start with a base 10 points in every ability score. Players are allotted 30 additional ability points to assign where they wish. No stat may be higher than 18 before racial modifiers.
Characters may choose any class and race from the core rules Player’s Guide 3.5. Feats & Skills chosen must also be from the core rules. Standard starting packages for each class apply at time of creation. All characters, regardless of race or class will be of noble lineage, and as such may multiply the starting gold allotment by 10 when buying standard gear. Specific lineage and any applicable titles will be determined by the DM after the character has been created.
Characters may choose from the following alignments only: lawful good, neutral good or chaotic good. Character’s will be well educated, and from the upper class.
Each character may choose one base weapon type as an heirloom item. The weapon type chosen must be melee and crafted of metal (no wood/ranged) The chosen weapon type will result in a + 3 (+ 1 / 5 Character Levels) weapon with 2 randomly generated special abilities (Per the DM’s guide). The wielder of the weapon also gains a 90% immunity to all psionic effects. These weapons can be used by the assigned character only, and are simple + 1 weapons for any others who might use them. If the character has an alignment shift, then the weapon is a simple + 1 weapon until the character’s alignment is restored to it’s original state. For each 5th level gained by the character one more new random ability will be added to the weapon. Note: The special abilities will always be generated and assigned by the DM.
The heirloom weapons have been passed down generation to generation through the character’s family. Their origin is unknown and can be traced back as far as the family lineage can be followed. The weapons seem to choose for themselves which family member will inherit them as they will only work for one person in each generation. If line of succession is broken, the weapons will still work for another of the bloodline, but only within the next generation. The weapons are sentient and intelligent, and more details will be provided on this to each individual Player by the DM.
